The horrifying story of a reasonably deranged young cripple (one hand missing) with sexual issues and a nasty habit of killing pretty much everyone who crosses his path (including an old woman and a dog). On one occasion though, he manages to kidnap a young woman reminding him of his mother (played by the same actress), previously killed by his own hands (well, the one he's got left I mean)... A typical early 1970s showstring budgeted gory celluloid piece of trash. There, you are warned! Don't...

FILM IN 2 PARTS!!!! The 130 minutes version left of a film supposedly 6 hours long in its primary form. The most expensive production of that time, they say. What a piece of junk! So much fun! starring, both young and cute, Sandra Knight and John Ashley. Donald Murphy as Frankenstein does look a bit like an aging Richard Gere, isn't he? Harold Lloyd Jr. is in there two. Hard to believe that a Hammer Films masterpiece on the same litterary material was released overseas a couple of months earlier. US horror cinema was really out of breath at the time. No doubt about it. more info on http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0051631/

Trailer for the US release of "The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires", cut down to a 75 minute feature called "7 Brothers meet Dracula". This is the last Hammer vampire movie and one of the two co-production made with Chinese Shaw Brothers company (the other being "Shatter" released the same year). Christopher Lee refused to play Dracula again and Peter Cushing is Van Helsing for the very last time. A very enjoyable mixture of Gothic Horror and Oriental Martial Arts....

Also known as "Stazione Termini". Great Italian melodrama by neorealism masterpeice maker Vittorio de Sica starring two major American actors, Jennifer Jones and Monty Clift. A very young "Dick" Beymer makes his film debut.as a teenager. also appear Gino Cervi and Paolo Stoppa, two Iatlian favourites of the time. More info onhttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0046366/

Last appearance of Karloff AS the creature (he will appear in two other episodes but portraying another character). Very good third effort on the Frankenstein "franchise" but one definite step towards the more and more mediocre episodes made later. Excellent cast!!! more info on http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0031951/

Who said that this sequel to James Whale's other classic "Frankenstein" was even better that the original? Well, I agree totally. The film is fun and fast paced, and as modern as ever. Very queer too!! No wonder the Rocky Horror Show made it a "flanboyant transgender epic". more info on http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0026138/

The American release of "Maciste All Inferno" (1962) as "The Witch's Curse" is a good exemple of what US distributors were capable of to mislead the audience. They tried very hard to pass this fairly enjoyable sword and sandals film for an ordinary horror movie. Of course, the twisted plot including some 18th Century witch hunt and battling mighty Maciste drown from God knows which area made this title a bit tricky to classify. But all in all, it's more about half naked...

The movie trailer of a long forgot gem from British SIFI, "The Crawling Eye" (originally titled "The Trollenberg Terror") which reveals astonishingly suspensful despite its appawling concept. Of course, the monster is a bit laughable, but the film cleverly conceales it behind some mist most of the time. Good atmosphere et excellent acting make it far better than the U.S. equivalents of that period. Would I compare this to the Quatermass saga? Yes, I would, without any...

A bunch of innocent people is kidnapped on an island by a crazed hunter who wishes to extend his skills on human game for a change (notably known as "the most dangerous" one). Yes, you've guess where Dr Balleau took the idea from, none other than Irving Pichel and Ernest B. Schoedsack's 1932 classic. The shadow of Count Zaroff is all over this 1961 kind of remake. Not as valuable, by far, but worth a quick look, like this original movie trailer, for instance. For more info go to...

The US movie trailer of the next to last episode of Sax Rohmer's hero adventures in the 60s. Christopher Lee still dignifies the role in spite of the poorer production values of this title. But there's even worse to come: "The Castle of Fu Manchu"(1969) (mostly edited out of earlier films footage) which will strike the last nail on the coffin of the poor asian mad scientist. Next appearance of Fu Manchu on the screen: Peter Sellers' very last film which is not a so good spoof, by the...

First Amicus production even though the name is not official at the time. This very weird British film that tries to look like Roger Corman's adaptions of Poe. Considering the latter took a great deal of inspiration from the Hammer gothics films, you can see the irony of it all. A lot of copies have been put on the dvd market. Very few are the complet English version. More info on http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053719/

The only color film to star Bela Lugosi. Just for that, worth a viewing. A story told by a dead woman, just like William Holden in Billy Wilder's "Sunset Boulevard", three years later. The "little" actor Angelo Rossitto from masterpiece "Freaks" is also a veteran from Lugosi's vehicles ("Spooks Run Wild", "The Corpse Vanishes"). Can you imagine he was the Master in George Miller's "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome", four decades latter?...

The very underated sex version of Mary Shelley's novel. A bit sleezy, for sure, but great fun anyhow. too bad Joseph Cotten had to vanish so early on the film. He made a very dashing Victor Frankenstien. Even though the monster is quite terrifying and ugly, he gets occasions to get laid. that's the big irony of the film. Star Rosalba Neri is credited "Sara Bay" for the U.S. version. The director is none other than Mel "Gravis Mushnik" Welles from Roger Corman's "The...

The bizarre story sets in Napoleon's France with an aging Boris Karloff, a young Jack Nicholson, his then girlfriend Sandra Knight and nobody seems to know exactly what's going on... Great fun to watch though. Roger Corman did sign the film but a lot of uncredited directors helped to finish it, including Jack Hill, star Nicholson and then beginner Francis Ford Coppola... Paradoxically, the copy of this trailer is far better than most of the dvds of the film available on the market. Will anyone...

First of the 2 horror comedies Bela Lugosi made with the East Side Kids (second being "Ghost on the Loose" 1943). Desperate to make a move towards different movie genres, Lugosi tried several times to appear in silly comedies like this one. Unfortunately, he was always offered the same kind of role he was portraying in serious ones. Great fun to watch anyhow. more info about the fil here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0034224/

The authentic movie trailer of a very entertaining thriller Alfred Hitchcock directed in 1950 for Warner Bros. Abusively underated, this quite enjoyable gem is particularly suspensful and well acted, not only by its Stars (Marlene Dietrich seems very close to what we imagine she could be in really life; egocentric, arrogant and everything...), but also by its supporting actors (Alastair Sim in particular, practicaly steals the show on several occasions). Highly recommended!
